Plot:
Rome: June 14, 1800. The painter Mario Cavaradossi gives shelter to the
patriot Cesare Angelotti, escaped from Castel Sant'Angelo.
Baron Scarpia, the police Pontifical regent, he searches
for it using the singer Floria Tosca's lover Cavaradossi, and making her believe that her husband betrays her.
The
woman secretly followed by Scarpia, Cavaradossi arrives housing to catch red-handed, but in the company of Angelotti.
Understand the deception that has fallen at this point Tosca tries to help her lover, but it is too late.
Scarpia
arrives at the house and discovers Angelotti, who committed suicide to avoid being caught. Stop the painter thus
condemned to the gallows for treason.
The baron, in love with Tosca, Cavaradossi proposes to free as long as you
give him. Tosca agrees in exchange for Cavaradossi's permission to leave the Papal States. He agrees and then ordered
his henchmen in the presence of Tosca, to perform a simulated shooting.
After writing a safe-conduct, was stabbed
in the back by Scarpia Tosca, who now runs her lover, prisoner in Castel Sant'Angelo.
Cavaradossi is killed but it
kills really Floria and turn in desperation, throwing herself from the ramparts of the fortress.

Trama:
Roma: 14 giugno 1800. Il pittore Mario Cavaradossi dà rifugio al patriota
Cesare Angelotti, fuggito da Castel Sant'Angelo.
Il barone Scarpia, reggente della Polizia Pontificia, si mette
alla ricerca di quest'ultimo servendosi della cantante Floria Tosca, amante di Cavaradossi, e facendole credere che il
suo uomo la tradisca.
La donna, seguita di nascosto da Scarpia, giunge all'abitazione di Cavaradossi per coglierlo
in flagrante, ma lo trova in compagnia di Angelotti. Capito l'inganno in cui è caduta, Tosca cerca a questo punto di
aiutare l'amante, ma è ormai troppo tardi.
Scarpia giunge alla casa e scopre Angelotti, che per non essere
catturato si suicida. Arresta dunque il pittore per alto tradimento condannandolo alla forca.
Il barone, invaghito
di Tosca, le propone di liberare Cavaradossi a patto che lei gli si conceda. Tosca accetta in cambio del permesso per
Cavaradossi di uscire dallo Stato Pontificio. Egli acconsente e ordina allora ai suoi sgherri, in presenza di Tosca, di
eseguire una fucilazione simulata.
Dopo aver scritto il salvacondotto, Scarpia viene pugnalato alla schiena da
Tosca, che corre subito dal suo amante, prigioniero a Castel Sant'Angelo.
Cavaradossi viene però ucciso davvero
e Floria si uccide a sua volta per la disperazione, gettandosi dagli spalti della fortezza.
